HBA Steamboat
By Paxton Jones, VP HBA Steamboat
On July 15, 2009 Gary and Teri Wall, owners of ABR/Associated Building & Remodeling and Debbie Rich, Executive Director of the Home Builder Association of North West Colorado, organized the inaugural meeting of HBA Steamboat. One hundred and seventy-five people attended. It was a great success and without the sponsors, it would not have been possible. Since that inaugural meeting, HBA Steamboat has grown and become the trades organization to join if you want to assure that your business name is included with the top builders in town.
The HBA Steamboat is part of the CAHB (Colorado Association of Home Builders) and the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders). The NAHB consists of over 235,000 members nationwide and is the political voice of the industry. Their political agenda is to help promote the policies that make high quality, better-built and more environmentally sustainable housing a national priority. Since 1942, the NAHB has been serving its members, the housing industry, and the public at large.
The goal of HBA Steamboat is to provide a strong referral network within the construction industry, to provide and promote professionalism, and high standards among its members. The NAHB does a background check on all potential members so the community is assured they are dealing with businesses that have proven their ability and integrity, and who will provide their customers with the professionalism they deserve.
Most, if not all, businesses in Steamboat Springs benefit financially, either directly or indirectly, from the construction industry. Our national economy is also tied to development and remodeling. It behooves us all to support our local homebuilders association. Visit the HBA Steamboat website at www.hbasteamboat.com to see the many current supporters of the organization.
HBA Steamboat understands the importance of giving back to the community. HBA Steamboat is a member of the Chamber, and new projects are surfacing at every meeting, such as the Beef, Beer and Bowl that raised money for the Marine Corp's Toys for Tots Program. HBA Steamboat hopes to build awareness through membership drives, fundraising and helping charitable programs in Routt County.
